Kris from Beyond the INK will be on the main stage at the AZ Tattoo Expo on Saturday, May 4, 2013, at 2:00pm to answer all the questions you didn't know you should have before getting tattooed. Kris has helped thousands of people be more confident about their body art decisions over the last few years. Whether you are a newcomer, an experienced tattoo enthusiast, or a tattoo artist you will enjoy Kris's down to earth, truthful words of advice.

Contest Rules

Must be registered 15 minutes prior to contest. Small category must be no larger than 8"x10". Large category must be no larger than 11"x14". Extensive is larger than 11"x14".

BLACK AND GREY: Must be black and/or grey shades of ink. White is acceptable, color is not.
TRADITIONAL: Must be a traditional tattoo design, concept or style: of the past, ie. Sailor Jerry.
AZTEC: Must of Mayan, Aztec otherwise Ancient Hispanic heredity.
BACKPIECES: Must have at least 75% coverage on the back.
SLEEVES: Must have at least 3/4 coverage on arm of leg.
ORIENTAL: Must be of far eastern design, concept or style.
PINUP: Must depict a woman in a pin up pose.
PORTRAITS: Must be recognizable as the real person or animal depicted, must have actual photo or other acceptable form of reproduction of the person depicted. No unrealistic characters.

EXTENSIVE COLOR: 11X14 and larger consisting of all color work.

EXTENSIVE BLK/GRY: 11X14 and larger, consisting of all black and gray shades of ink. White is acceptable, color is not.

EROTIC: Must depict something sexy or erotic in nature.
FLORAL: Must be at least 50% floral in nature.
COLOR: Entire tattoo consist of color work. Or a black & grey piece with a little color.
CREATIVE PIERCINGS: NO NUDITY. Can be any piercing that is multiples, extensive and most creative.

BEST NEW OF DAY: must be started and finished on convention floor.

BEST OF SHOW: Will be comprised of all 1st place winners as well as "Best New of Day" winners throughout the weekend.

There is a $10 registration fee required. There is also a 1 year restriction on previous 1st place winners. This means that if you were the 1st place winner of our show last year, you will not be allowed to enter the piece that won into the same contest category within a 1-year period.
